HSGI Double Decker Taco Modular Magazine Pouch

The High Speed Gear Inc. Double Decker Taco (DDT) Modular Magazine Pouch is the rifle/pistol combination variant in their Taco line. This pouch can accommodate any rifle magazine (including Saiga 12) as well as any size pistol magazine. The pouch doesn’t stop there though, the DDT will also secure grenades, multitools, radios or anything else that will fit. The pouch is constructed from cordura, kydex and shock cord. The cordura forms the outside “taco” portion of the pouch with a kydex “U” in the middle. Shock cord is then weaved through the PALS webbing on the outside around the kydex to secure it and provide adjustable retention. HSGI also added tabs to the top in case the user wants to add bungee retention as well. The DDT pouch is available in multiple colors/camo and like all HSGI products, it is made entirely in the USA.
In the past month of using the HSGI DDT, I have been very impressed. The pouch has provided more than enough retention on both the rifle and pistol magazines as well as fit anything else I’ve wanted to store in it. So far I have been able to fit any AR15, SR25, G3, Saiga 12 and AK magazines as well as 1911 and Glock 17/21 magazines without issue. In addition to magazines, I have stored a Leatherman Wave and Fenix TK11 in the pistol portion of the pouch. I did find the pouch to be very tight at first but after leaving magazines in it for about a week, it broke in nicely. My favorite part of this pouch continues to be the “one size fits all” application. It’s really nice having one piece of kit to hold any combination of magazines or tools I may want to use. The design seems very robust and if the shock cord were to get cut or eventually wear out, it is easily replaced. After this initial period of use, I will be purchasing more of the Taco line of pouches from HSGI and retiring my other pouches.
