Review: Camelback Ambush

CBambush

The Camelback Ambush has quickly become my go-to hydration carrier for hiking and shooting. It holds a 3L bladder and has 2 compartments to carry additional gear. The main compartment has 2 mesh pockets inside for small items. I like to keep some electrolyte packets, a couple of cleaning tablets and a spare bite valve for the hydro link in there. The pocket will also hold an Adventure Medical Kits Trauma kit. The outside of the main pouch is also covered in PALS webbing to allow for further kit to be attached. The top of the pack has a smaller storage space that is perfect for a snack bar and some paracord. The Ambush features padded shoulder straps for carry as well as an adjustable sternum strap. One thing that I really like about the Ambush is the use of the Hydrolink Bite Valve as opposed to their standard valve. The Hydrolink features an on/off valve and a larger nipple with a dust cover. The on/off ensures zero drainage even after the bite valve has been well worn. The Camelback Ambush has definitely earned my seal of approval and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a hydration system. Retail is set at $97.
